It’s that time of year again. That time when movie studios pay millions of dollars to get a 30 second ad slot for a film they have coming out in the year.
This year was no different, in fact, this year was incredibly jam packed with blockbusters. So let’s take a look at them, in no particular order…
Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom
The first trailer for the follow up to Jurassic World was met with a luke-warm response. With many people being unimpressed by the exploding island. This trailer, however, faired much better.
Showing a bit more of the plot and some brand new dino’s. This new trailer sure adds the fear factor back into the Jurassic Park/World franchise and now looks set to be a hit at the summer box office.
Skyscraper
Its Dwayne, its Dwayne in a skyscraper, its Dwayne in a skyscraper with only one leg. Basically this movie looks like Die Hard but with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. If you’re into that then sure, give this a go, looks like a good, mindless action flick…but will he make that jump?
Mission Impossible: Fallout
Holy Shit this film looks good. Tom Cruise and Henry Cavil (with that infamous moustache) are set to star in the 6th instalment of the Mission Impossible franchise.
This franchise seems to have legs beyond anything else and looks set to be much much better than the last Bond outing (Spectre). With stunts galore including a Helicopter chase scene and the building that broke Tom Cruises foot, MI6 looks to be a thrill ride not to be missed.
Solo: A Star Wars Story
Well its about damn time. Finally, with just 3 months before release we get a trailer for Solo. Well, during the superbowl we got just a 30 second tease for the trailer, then during Good Morning America we got a full trailer (only a teaser trailer mind).
What can I say, it looks like a Star Wars movie. There’s some cool looking aliens, some cool looking spaceships and a very cool looking Donald Glover as Lando. Disney has high stakes on the line for this one, especially following its extremely troubling production. But still, we’ll see it because it’s Star Wars.
Avengers: Infinity War
And last, but definitely not least, is Avengers: Infinity War. Much like Solo, this isn’t a full trailer but a mere 30 second TV Spot (so far).
More shots of our heroes are seen, a new Iron Man suit is shown off and Spider-Man looks like he’s having some trouble in space but overall this spoils nothing from the film and gives nothing else to do with the plot…but damn is it cool. The music alone could give you chills.
So yeah, some big films had some big trailers (and some small ones) but it looks like this summer is set to be another big one for the big studios. My personal hope is that Mission Impossible and Jurassic World beat expectations and are great, but who knows what could happen. If you wish to see any of the trailers i’ll link them with the films titles in their headers.
